Roy's BR Tips
Roy Gives Out BR Tips
| As the 2008 Pro Circuit MVP and winner of the Pros' Choice Award for Best Battle Rifle, it's safe to call Roy an expert on Halo 3's most versatile weapon. As any MLG fan knows, all players spawn with the BR. On several maps, it may be the only weapon you possess all game. Therefore, it's important to have your BR in tip-top shape if you want to go pro. Check out these tips from Roy and our friends at Old Spice, as you work to Get Better Fast. Why is it important to have a good BR? Having a good BR is vital in Halo 3. You spawn with it over and over, so getting good with it is key. In most situations in the game, you are not going to have a sniper or the rockets to get a quick kill, so learning to use your BR effectively is important. Having a good BR doesn⦥uro;™t mean that you'll win every single BR battle you get into, but rather that you hit a majority of the shots that you take and put yourself in a good position to win every battle. |

- Accuracy- Staying accurate and missing minimal shots will lead to a very solid BR.
- Positioning- Putting yourself in a better position than your opponent and allowing yourself to get the first shot is also very important, because some pros do not miss often.
- Strafe- Try and switch it up. Don⦥uro;™t always pull the same thing as it can get predictable. Always try and keep your opponent guessing.
- Challenging- Know when to back down from a fight and when to stay and fight, because losing a battle that you should have won gives the other team a lot of momentum.
- I think that the BR Arena is something that really helped me personally. It provides for a lot of difficult angles and really makes you work. The best way is to just play.
- As far as controller settings go, play what feels comfortable to you. There is not a proven setting that is better than the rest, so play what you play your best on. Find the best sensitivity for you and just play as much as you can.
- Do not worry about your BR shot during team practice, focus on the team. During practice, focus should be on your team and not on your shot, and if you are utilizing teamwork, your shot will not matter.
- Practicing on my own in matchmaking is where I practice my shot the most, just playing a lot has helped me improve my shot and there is never any pressure in matchmaking, so it is the perfect place to try different things.
- Playing with a friend can be very useful if you are able to play on LAN. Every chance I get to play on LAN I take, even if it is just a 1v1 against a friend that isn⦥uro;™t very good. Just shooting on LAN can help because it is always going to be different than Xbox Live.
- You know that you are getting better when you start getting a lot of kills and few deaths. Shooting good will often lead to good stats, while obviously still playing smart which is always more important.
- Have a friend watch a few of your gameplays to find mistakes and what you are doing wrong, because a lot of times you will miss many obvious mistakes that can be easily corrected by yourself.
